Move Files From Another Cloud
This guide helps you move files from services such as Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive, iCloud Drive, or another cloud folder.
Choose a Migration Method
Small Move
Use the NuQloud web interface.
- Download files from your old cloud.
- Open NuQloud Files.
- Create folders where you want the files to go.
- Drag files or folders into NuQloud.
- Wait for uploads to finish.
Larger Move
Use desktop sync.
- Install the compatible NuQloud desktop sync app.
- Create a local NuQloud sync folder.
- Download files from your old cloud to your computer.
- Move files into the local NuQloud sync folder.
- Let the sync app upload them.
Very Large Move
Ask your provider for help if you have:
- Hundreds of gigabytes or more.
- Shared folders with complex permissions.
- Business data that must preserve ownership.
- A slow home connection.
Suggested Folder Layout
Create a simple structure before migrating:
- Documents
- Photos
- Projects
- Shared
- Archives
- Backups
Move Shared Folders Carefully
Cloud services handle sharing differently. Before deleting old shares:
- Recreate the folder in NuQloud.
- Upload or sync the content.
- Share the NuQloud folder with the right people.
- Confirm they can access it.
- Only then remove or archive the old cloud share.
After Migration
- Check file counts and folder sizes.
- Spot-check important files.
- Set up desktop sync for ongoing backups.
- Enable mobile photo auto-upload if needed.
- Decide which files should also be published to QDN.
Important Difference
Moving files into NuQloud Files stores them in your cloud account.
Publishing files to QDN is a separate action. Only publish files that you intentionally want available through the decentralized layer.
